Self Locking Retaining Rings

Self-locking retaining rings are ideal for applications that have high rotation requirements. This feature allows the ring to function properly at speeds above the recommended rotational capacity. The self-locking option can be used on both outer and inner rings. The self-locking feature uses a dome on the inner turn that “locks” into a slot on the outer turn.

Self-locking allows the ring to operate at high speeds, withstand vibration, operate under rapid acceleration, and absorb some degree of shock loading.

Revolox® Self-Locking Rings For High RPM

From electric motors to gears, the Revolox Smalley self-locking ring is designed for applications requiring high rotational performance. The revolutionary retaining ring allows engineers to safely and easily install to design for high RPM requirements in high production volumes.

The “dome and gap” design prevents the ring from expanding, safely securing the application at high speeds. This allows operation at higher speeds, withstands vibration, operates under rapid acceleration, and absorbs some degree of shock loading.

Centerline Locking Feature

  • The locking element is located inside and therefore cannot interfere with the operation of the main components.
  • Prevents misalignment of the lower ring load
  • Installation is manual and once installed, the rings become tamper-proof. Removal requires the installation of a new ring.
